We’re excited to share that the Newton Education Foundation has provided a grant to purchase a new listening center for Ms. Brewer’s Pre-K classroom. Grant funds will be used to purchase a Toniebox2 Audio Player, three additional story characters, comfortable seating for our new listening center, and approximately 20 books in English and Spanish, to go with the Toniebox characters. Listening to stories read aloud helps young children to develop a love of reading and become lifelong readers. By using our new listening center, our students will learn how to handle books properly, turn the pages, and track words from left to right, top to bottom. We are excited to offer our Pre-K students this amazing opportunity!

Good day parents and guardians! My name is Josh Howard, and I am the music instructor at Heard Mixon Elementary School. I am excited to announce that the Newton Education Foundation has generously awarded a Teacher Innovation Grant to the music program totaling over $2900.00! The funds will be used to purchase a set of new ukuleles for fourth and fifth grade students to use for performance and composition projects. I am thrilled that the children at Heard-Mixon will get a chance to discover the joy that comes from being able to create memories of learning songs and exploring opportunities to write their own with such valuable, tangible tools as ukuleles.
If you can donate, please consider giving a financial gift to the Newton Education Foundation to allow for their generous grant program to continue. Thank you!
"🎉 Exciting News! 🎉
We’re proud to share that the Newton Education Foundation has fully funded our grant to bring the ChompSaw 10x Maker Bundle and Inventor’s Workbook to the Heard-Mixon art room! Thanks to their generous support, our Superstars will now be able to safely cut, shape, and build with cardboard using kid-friendly ChompSaw tools. These tools are designed to spark creativity and critical thinking by allowing students to design and construct their own 3D models—everything from buildings and bridges to wearable art and imaginative creatures! By combining art with science, technology, engineering, and math, students will strengthen their problem-solving skills while having a blast bringing their ideas to life. We can’t wait to see what our superstar makers will create! 🛠️✨🎨- Mrs. Wigley, Art Teacher HMES "
