WELCOME TO HEARD-MIXON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Hello Heard-Mixon Families!

We are Super excited to have our Pre-K through 3rd grade in-person students back in the building!
In order to maintain a safe environment for our students and staff, we ask your understanding and continued adherence with the following safety precautions:

Check your child’s temperature before he or she leaves home. If there is fever, or your child feels sick, keep him or her home.
If your child is a car rider, please stay in the car rider line and follow the flow of traffic.
No one will be permitted to walk students into the building.
Staff members will greet students and help them to their classes.
The car rider line is located on the side of the building. Morning drop off is from 7:00 – 7:35 and afternoon pickup is from 2:10– 2:30.
Remind your child that all students are required to wear a mask while in the building.
Water fountains have been turned off, so please send a bottle of water with your child each day.

If your child is riding the bus, follow the directions provided on our Newton County Schools or Heard-Mixon websites for information regarding pick up and drop off times.

Please email our principal at wilkins.marquita@newton.k12.ga.us
if you have questions or concerns.

Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Guardians/Families/Community:

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Heard-Mixon Elementary School. I speak for each member of Heard-Mixon when I say we are excited that you are a part of our Heard-Mixon family.

This website is a great communication tool for you. Please check it often to be updated on events. Another way we communicate with our parents is through the school agenda. Take time to review your child’s agenda each day. It will contain their homework assignments and other comments from your child’s teacher. Please sign the agenda each day to show that you are aware of your child’s assignments. If you have questions regarding the policies of the school, please consult the handbooks that are in the front of the agenda.

We understand the importance of an effective family, community, school partnership and invite you to volunteer as often as possible. Getting involved in school activities is an awesome way for parents to stay informed. Don’t forget the school PTO always needs your support as well.

Please be aware of the following items concerning attendance:

  • School starts promptly at 7:40 a.m.
  • Morning car riders should be dropped off at the car rider loop.
  • Walk your child in the front office if they are tardy (7:40 a.m.
or later). Please sign them in on the computer to obtain a tardy
pass to take to their teacher.
  • Early checkouts should be done by 1:30 p.m.
  • Please send in a note if your child is absent.

We enjoy the opportunity to serve our Heard-Mixon school family. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please give us a call.

    Sincerely,
    Marquita Wilkins
    Principal
